RSM’s new Brisbane workplace marks the beginning of a new chapter— one that brings their purpose and values to life in a space designed for people, connection, and possibility.
With a strong focus on integrity, collaboration, and supporting their people to thrive, the workplace reflects who RSM is today and who they’re becoming. It’s a welcoming, light-filled environment that embraces flexibility, encourages meaningful interactions, and quietly carries the confidence of a global brand grounded in the local community.
After more than a decade in their previous space, RSM’s Brisbane team had outgrown their office—physically and culturally. The environment
no longer reflected the dynamic, people-centric nature of the business or supported the way their teams wanted to work. With a strong growth trajectory and a headcount set to more than double in five years, the time was right for a change.
RSM secured a unqiue two-level tenancy in Brisbane’s Queen Street and engaged COMUNiTI to guide the design from employee engagement through to construction.
The goal wasn’t just to create a new workplace. It was to create a workplace that would energise the team, foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing, support hybrid and flexible working, and offer a client and employee experience that reflects RSM’s position as a global leader with strong local roots.
From the outset, RSM’s purpose: To instil confidence in a world of change, and their employee value proposition were central to the design direction.
Their commitment to people-first thinking, purposeful work, and a collaborative culture shaped every decision. Through our engagement with their team, COMUNiTI uncovered four guiding principles that would bring this vision to life:
People First – planning decisions ensured equity and visibility across teams, removing hierarchy and creating spaces that everyone could access and enjoy.
Hospitality – the communal café and welcome areas were designed to feel warm, generous and open, encouraging connection.
Sustainability – thoughtful material choices and environmental design aimed to reduce environmental impact while promoting wellbeing.
Trust & Authenticity – honest, earthy materials and subtle tones created a calming, grounded environment that feels both professional and inviting.
These principles created a strong foundation for a workplace that feels natural, seamless, and genuinely aligned with the way RSM works and what they stand for.
The completed workplace is more than just a beautiful space—it’s a place that supports how people feel, think, and work every day. On the podium level, a concierge-style welcome leads into a vibrant café that spills out onto a terrace with views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge. Framed by a collection of glasshouse- style meeting rooms—once external balconies, now enclosed with skylights and natural light— this central space is the social and collaborative heart of the office.
Connection continues down the open internal stair, with its feature moss wall and atrium drawing people into a lower-level retreat. Here, a relaxed kitchenette and informal work zone provide a space for spontaneous conversations and quiet moments of focus.
The office embraces a flexible, unallocated seating model with a variety of work settings—open workstations, quiet rooms, and a dedicated no-phone Library zone that offers space for deep, uninterrupted focus.
Even RSM’s executive team stepped away from private offices, modelling a new kind of leadership centred on openness, equity, and shared access.
Thoughtful planning and materiality are what bring this space to life. Natural tones, lush greenery, and tactile finishes like handcrafted breeze block walls create a calm, grounded environment that feels distinctly Brisbane. The blocks gently divide the café and concierge area, offering privacy without shutting down flow or light.
One of the most unique elements of the project was the integration of previously external balcony areas. Working closely with the landlord and base building team, COMUNiTI transformed these zones into beautiful, skylit “glasshouses” that now serve as flexible meeting rooms. It’s a standout feature that adds depth, character, and natural light to the tenancy.
With every detail—from lighting and zoning to finish selections and flow—designed to support both performance and wellbeing, the new RSM workplace is already making an impact. Feedback from the team has been overwhelmingly positive. People say they love how the space makes them feel, how it brings everyone together, and how it supports the way they want to work.
